How Does Alluna Medical Verify Authentic Sculptra® Before Treatment?

This page is for general education only. Individual assessment is required before any treatment; suitability, risks, and results vary between patients. This information does not replace a medical consultation or the management of underlying health conditions.

Sculptra® is an injectable medical device and should only be used by appropriately trained healthcare professionals. Product authenticity, correct handling, patient selection, injection technique, and aftercare all form part of safe treatment planning.

At Alluna Medical, we believe patients should be able to understand—and see—the product preparation process for their own treatment.

Why Product Authenticity Matters for Sculptra®

Sculptra® (PLLA‑SCA) is a collagen biostimulator that is prepared before injection. Because it is an injectable medical product, patients may reasonably wish to know:

  • Whether the product is authentic and supplied through appropriate channels

  • What is being used for their treatment

  • Who prepares the vial

  • Whether preparation and injection are performed in an appropriate medical setting

  • What checks are carried out before treatment proceeds

Authenticity alone does not determine whether a treatment is suitable or guarantee an outcome. However, it is an important part of traceability, responsible product handling, and informed decision-making.

Our Sculptra® Verification Process

For Sculptra® treatment at Alluna Medical, the product-checking and preparation process is designed to be open and visible to the patient.

Before each treatment, our doctor checks the Sculptra® box and packaging in front of the patient. The box is then opened in the treatment room as part of the appointment.

Where applicable, patients are invited to scan the QR code on the Sculptra® packaging themselves using their own mobile device. Galderma Hong Kong states that this QR code can be used to verify that the product is authentic and supplied by the original manufacturer in Hong Kong.

This process allows patients to see the product being used and to ask questions before treatment begins.

Doctor‑Performed Reconstitution

At Alluna Medical, Sculptra® is personally reconstituted by our doctor in front of the patient. This preparation step is not delegated to nurses, therapists, sales consultants, or supporting staff.

Reconstitution is an important part of Sculptra® handling. The applicable Galderma Instructions for Use describe preparation with sterile water for injection, inspection for a homogeneous suspension, and the use of sterile, single-use equipment. The exact preparation approach, dilution, and timing are determined by the treating doctor in accordance with the current applicable product information, clinical assessment, and treatment plan.

Sculptra® has specific injection and preparation requirements and should be used by healthcare professionals with certified training in its use.

What Happens During Your Appointment?

Every treatment plan begins with a doctor-led assessment. If Sculptra® is considered appropriate and you decide to proceed, the treatment journey generally includes:

  1. Consultation and assessment
Our doctor reviews your concerns, facial anatomy, medical history, previous aesthetic treatments, and the potential benefits, limitations, alternatives, and risks of Sculptra®.

  2. Product check in front of you
The Sculptra® box and packaging are checked and opened in the treatment room. You may scan the QR code on the box to confirm the product’s manufacturer-supplied Hong Kong authenticity information.

  3. Doctor-performed preparation
Our doctor personally reconstitutes the selected Sculptra® vial for your treatment. This is carried out in front of you using appropriate sterile technique and current applicable product guidance.

  4. Doctor-led treatment and aftercare
Treatment is performed by our Hong Kong-licensed doctor. The initial post-treatment massage is performed in clinic, and you receive individualised aftercare guidance, including massage instructions where appropriate.

How This Fits Within Sculptra® Safety

Authentic product sourcing and transparent preparation are important safeguards, but they are only one part of safe Sculptra® care.

A responsible treatment plan also follows our Alluna Method framework, and depends on:

  • Appropriate patient selection

  • Review of medical history, medications, allergies, and previous procedures

  • Anatomical assessment and an individualised treatment plan

  • Suitable product preparation and handling

  • Careful injection technique

  • Clear aftercare instructions and access to follow-up

  • Open discussion of potential risks, including bruising, swelling, tenderness, nodules, unevenness, inflammatory reactions, and other complications

No treatment is risk-free, and no procedure can guarantee a particular aesthetic result or the absence of side effects.

What Patients Value at Alluna Medical

Patients who choose Alluna Medical for Sculptra® often value:

  • A fully doctor-led model, where consultation, product preparation, injection, and aftercare planning are overseen by a licensed doctor

  • The opportunity to see their Sculptra® packaging checked and opened before treatment

  • The option to scan the product QR code themselves for manufacturer-supplied authenticity verification in Hong Kong

  • Doctor-performed reconstitution rather than delegation of this step to nurses, therapists, sales consultants, or supporting staff

  • A single consultation-and-treatment room that supports privacy, continuity, and unhurried discussion

  • Authentic products and recognised medical devices sourced through appropriate channels

  • Clear explanations of potential benefits, limitations, risks, recovery, and realistic treatment timelines

This approach is intended for patients who value discretion, transparency, and medically grounded care—not a rushed or transactional treatment experience.

Sculptra® Authenticity and Preparation FAQs

Can I scan the QR code on my Sculptra® box?

Yes. Patients may scan the QR code on the Sculptra® packaging before treatment. Galderma Hong Kong states that the code can be used to verify that the product is authentic and supplied by the original manufacturer in Hong Kong.

Will my Sculptra® box be opened in front of me?

At Alluna Medical, the Sculptra® box and packaging for your treatment are checked and opened in the treatment room as part of your appointment, so that you can see the product before preparation begins.

Who reconstitutes Sculptra® at Alluna Medical?

Our doctor personally reconstitutes Sculptra® for treatment at Alluna Medical. This preparation step is not delegated to nurses, therapists, sales consultants, or supporting staff.

Why does Sculptra® need to be reconstituted?

Sculptra® is supplied as a powder and requires preparation with sterile water for injection before use. Appropriate preparation, handling, and use of sterile equipment are described in the product Instructions for Use.

Does authentic Sculptra® guarantee a safe treatment or a particular result?

No. Authentic product sourcing is important, but it does not guarantee treatment suitability, a particular result, or the absence of complications. Safe care also requires appropriate assessment, medical history review, treatment planning, injection technique, aftercare, and follow-up.

Can Sculptra® be suitable if I am concerned about nodules?

Sculptra® may still be appropriate for some patients who have concerns about nodules, but treatment should only follow an individual assessment and an open discussion of risks, alternatives, and aftercare. Nodules and unevenness can occur even with careful planning.
